๐ŸŽ‰ VE Day 80 celebrations

On Thursday 8 May we mark the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Europe - VE Day.

Communities across the country, county and district will be commemorating this landmark event with music, food and family fun.

Of course there will also be the opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices made by those servicemen and women involved in the six years of this devastating global conflict.

We will be holding a special Armed Forces Coffee Morning on Wednesday 7 May where attendees will complete a commemorative banner and bunting, which will be displayed in our offices, as well as decorative brooches.

On Thursday morning to coincide with national events we will have a private flag-raising ceremony outside our offices.

Across the District various street party events are taking place, including Braunstone Town, Kirby Muxloe and Stoney Stanton. For more information on public events use the link below:

โ‰๏ธ Could you benefit from a home gadget?

Do you or someone you know live with a long-term physical, mental or neurological health condition?

If so our Home Gadgets team may be able to provide support with some assistive technology.

Home Gadgets is a part of our Lightbulb project which runs across the seven District and Borough Councils in Leicestershire. Our aim is to keep people living independently in their own home through the use of small gadgets.

We provide a wide variety of free-of-charge gadgets that can tackle small problems, creating a big difference. Items available might include digital calendar clocks, multi-openers or smart doorbells.

To make a referral or discuss how we may be able to assist, visit the Lightbulb website using the link below or call 0116 250 3023.
