📝Fully funded graduate internships

The application window is now open for local businesses to host a De Montfort University (DMU) Graduate Champion intern, fully funded, for 6 weeks in the summer.
These internships are entirely free for employers and place ambitious graduates in businesses, where their expertise and innovation in their field can be put into practice. Each graduate is contracted for 111 hours, from Monday 18 August to Friday 26 September 2025.

Recruitment to the scheme is conducted through a matching process to ensure that each host business is paired with the right student and many previous hosts have gone on to offer long-term employment to their intern, after the scheme has ended.

For support with the application process, please get in touch at: Enterprisingblaby@blaby.gov.uk. Applications need to submitted by Friday 30 May 2025.

📈Growth Guarantee Scheme

The British Business Bank has launched the Growth Guarantee Scheme (GGS), providing approximately £500 million in additional lending capacity to support smaller businesses across the UK. This scheme is designed to help businesses manage cashflow issues and invest in growth, especially in light of global tariff changes.

Key features of the scheme:

Funding capacity: up to £2 million per business group (or £1 million for those under the Northern Ireland Protocol)
Wide range of products: includes term loans, overdrafts, asset finance, invoice finance, and asset-based lending
Term length: loans available from three months to six years, with shorter terms for overdrafts and invoice finance
Government-backed guarantee: provides a 70% guarantee to lenders, ensuring better terms for borrowers

The scheme is open to UK-based businesses with a turnover of up to £45 million, excluding those in financial difficulty, and aims to improve access to finance for small businesses, enabling them to invest and grow.
