๐Ÿ‘‰ Election deadlines

Here's a reminder about important deadlines which are looming for the Leicestershire County Council elections taking place on Thursday 1 May.

The deadlines also apply to the Sapcote Parish Council, Blaby Parish South and Blaby District Glen Parva Ward by-elections, taking place on the same day.

The first important date is Friday 11 April - at midnight - the deadline to register to vote. For those teenagers born between 5 July 2006 and 1 May 2007 this may be the first time they are eligible to vote so it's important to remember to register.

Visit register-to-vote to sign up - it just takes a few minutes. Being on the Electoral Register can also have other benefits, particularly around your credit score.

Monday 14 April at 5pm, is the deadline to apply for a postal vote if you know you won't be able to vote in person on 1 May. Anyone can apply for a postal vote and you don't need to explain why. Visit: apply-postal-vote

The candidates standing at each election have now been announced. You can find out who your local candidate for the District's seven County divisions here: leicestershire-county-council-election-2025

๐Ÿšฏ Be inspired by the Great British Spring Clean

We're encouraging people to take inspiration from Keep Britain Tidy and its annual Great British Spring Clean campaign to give up a little of their time for litter picking.
We have equipment available and are happy to support litter pickers, whether as a one off or a regular 'womble'.

๐Ÿ“ฃ Join our Youth Council

Following their successful 2025 Youth Conference our Youth Council has attracted 12 new members. But there's always room for more.

If you know a young person aged between 11 and 19 who lives or attends school in the District, why not see if they are interested in joining.

The Youth Council opens up opportunities to tackle issues which impact young people, working proactively with our Councillors and officers and other local organisations.

Members recently met with the Council's Senior Leadership Team to see how they could support the action plans on this year's priorities - discrimination, vaping and climate change.
